Your story needs to be told to help others with their lives. If you would look in your past, you can find so many Life Lessons in your failures.

To help you know what failure looks like and what Life Lessons you can share with the world, I’m going to tell you of some of my mistakes and what I’ve learned what NOT to do.

1. Procrastination

This has been one of the biggest hindrances in my life. It has put me in DELAY STATUS far too long. I know the reason why I have made this choice is based on fears of the unknown. Maybe you can relate with this struggle.

You may have fears of the unknown too, but what I have learned is to IDENTIFY what they are and address them with the TRUTH. Jesus tells us in John 8:32, “And you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you FREE.”

You can also be set free from fear with God’s love. I encourage you to study 1 John 4:18 and ask God to give you a deeper revelation of His PERFECT LOVE. Its Gods’ perfect love He has for you that casts out all fear.

2. Excuses

Have you ever used excuses from stopping you from succeeding in life? I have and I found out one life changing truth about excuses:

Excuses are just Lies in Disguise.

Read that again. There are lies hidden in each of our excuses and many times we justify our behavior because of the excuses we hold onto. Unfortunately we can also delay what God has called us to do by leaning on our them.

God gave me an illustration one time regarding excuses. He showed me I was using excuses as a crutch. I CHOSE the crutch of excuses. The good news is I don’t use excuses anymore. I am choosing to take responsibility for my actions. Are you?

3. Complaining

I’ve discovered over the years that many people don’t like being around others who complain. I caught myself just the other day complaining instead of being grateful for what I already have in my life.

When we choose to complain, we have taken our focus off of what God has already provided for us. Stop complaining. Does complaining really get us anywhere? Not really, but gratitude does. The more grateful I am, the more I look forward to my future.

4. Blaming

When I have chosen to blame others, I have not seen them from God’s perspective. One of the biggest changes in my life this year has been TAKING RESPONSIBILITY for my decisions. I cannot control the decisions of others, but I am now choosing to make wiser decisions in my own life.

The devil want us to point the finger at others and blame them for our circumstances. One day the Lord told me, “Jeffrey, I am always providing, I am always giving and I am always supplying for you.” When He said that, I stopped blaming Him.

5. Distractions

I’ve realized distractions in my life have also caused delays. Now I am much more aware of what really distracts me from what God is leading me to do. Some of them include, the phone, social media, sports, YouTube videos and even unhealthy conversations.

Maybe you have a few of these and when you know what they are, prepare ahead of time when they get you off track. One of the best solutions I’ve discovered is to have someone keep you accountable. Accountability will actually help you with all of the mistakes I shared with you.

Now that you know what has NOT worked for me and the lessons I’ve learned from them, I pray you will heed my advice. Remember your story needs to be told to the world.

What was the biggest lesson you learned from my mistakes?
