What would spending more intimate time with God look like for you? He desires to have more of your time so you can get to KNOW Him. The more time you are with God, the more you will know Him. Find out how to spend intimate time with God and deepen your relationship with Him.

I like very practical, simple steps when it comes to doing anything and I believe most people appreciate them as well. You are going to love to learn how you can build a relationship with God that will transform ALL of your relationships. So here is where you can start today so you can have more intimate time with God.

Ask God

The challenge that many of us face is how we choose to manage our time each day.

The good news is you can ask God to help to you manage your time so you CAN have more intimate time with Him. I’ve realized the past few months that one of the biggest reasons we don’t see our lives line up with God’s will is because we have not ASKED God for it.

If you truly desire more 1 on 1 time with God, then ask Him. It’s that easy.

When I began to ask God for what He wanted, I heard these three words that changed my life. God said,

“I am now.”

Think about that for a moment. He has been waiting for YOU to ask Him for more time be alone with God so He can give it to you. So if you truly desire to spend more time with God, start with asking Him to rearrange your schedule and I promise you He will.

Know Your Why

If I were to ask you why you want to have more intimate time with God, what would you tell me?

I believe it really starts with asking God for HIS Why. The reason for that is because you want what He wants, right? He obviously wants you to have quiet time with Him so you can KNOW Him more intimately.

Once you know His Why and you have decided to have the same WHY God wants to be with you, then it will inspire and motivate you each day to invest your time with the Lord.

Invest In Your Relationship With God

Personally, I prefer investing time with God versus spending time with Him. What’s the difference? For me, investing is long term and spending is short term. I believe God wants you to have a long term relationship with Him for all eternity. Do you agree?

When you invest in any relationship, you are not doing it just for you but for the other person as well. You are investing your time, your heart, your thoughts and your loving words. Again I want you to look at your intimate time with God as an investment in a closer, personal relationship with your Lord.

Listen

I’m sure you have heard that God gave you 2 ears and 1 mouth which means you should listen TWICE as much as you talk. But how many of us truly do that especially with God? He has SO much to say to you and He really wants you to listen to His heart.

I remember when I took a long look at the word HEART I saw the word HEAR in it. Then I also noticed the word EAR.

God wants us to listen with our hearts because that is where we hear Him. In other words, He wants you to have a heart to heart conversation with Him and one of the biggest keys is to listen more. If you want to hear God more, then listen more. It’s that simple.

Study The Bible

Maybe you are new to having an intimate relationship with God and you don’t know where to start. I highly recommend you begin with reading the Bible. I call it our LIFE MANUAL.

When you start reading about WHO God is then you will get to know Him more intimately.

One day I was asked how do we trust God. I thought about it for awhile and realized you can’t trust someone you don’t really know. The more you have that 1 on 1 time with God, the more you will hear His heart for you. When you start to hear what God is saying to you, then you begin to trust Him.

What I love about reading the Bible is it comes with its own teacher – Holy Spirit.

In 1992 when I got my first study Bible, I would read it and ask Holy Spirit to help me understand what I was reading. This is where I began hearing God’s voice in my heart and learned how to recognize His voice.

Once you know WHY you want to “invest” more time getting to know God and asking Him for more time with Him, I promise you that you will get to know Him at a deeper level. Remember as you ask God questions, listen for His answers.  He truly does want you to have a more intimate relationship with Him.

The choice is up to you.

How would you describe your intimate relationship with God?
